on a mountain,
alone but for
the clouds,
hair grows long.
Sagacious child,
tell us –
are you scared of him?

Bob Marley grooves the
morning, coffee seduces
jam, “feel alright” now
the dance before a storm (haiku)
sorry – had some technical difficulties last night….
summer wind teases
lightly flirts, pirouettes,
snaps lightning in time.
the silence (haiku)
the heartbreaking void
leave the phone to die, curl up,
bury the silence.
a brashness undefined
you will never meet another
as terrifying as me
my hook will rip
your cheek
as you claw your way
across the deck
gasping for air
every twitch
compelling you
forward
your glassy eyes,
pleading.

those of us who believe in math
know statistically
all kinds of things are true:
solving for x
must equal
the balance
and this,
death is just one … fraction … away
it will take a lifetime, though,
limits
un-defined,
lament the loss (when rain forms a widow’s veil)
when rain falls
in the nascent glow
of a streetlight,
it seems to wear a veil,
a widow’s gown
you and i
have felt the distance
between two knees
sitting too close
it’s taken its toll
the bells of the church
agree – and inside
The Beatles lament
the loss
and turn
defiantly –
those headlights in the rain.
